Remember the Milk - Jott it?

Well sometimes I like to make to do lists and then check off things as I get them accomplished. But some of these lists have gotten misplaced before they were used. I can see where Remember the Milk could help with that aspect for sure. Also, the collaboration feature would be a big advantage for a group project. Members of the group could see what is done and what needs to still get done. Maybe you would have to "claim" a task somehow so two people aren't trying to work on the same thing at the same time?

I think for anyone who uses their cell phone a lot, Jott, would come in very handy to add items to their Remember the Milk list or to send the info to their email, etc.

I guess both things would have many uses, but I think I would have to train myself to remember to use them at first!

The 43 Things Zeitgeist Goals was fun. It was interesting to immediately see the thousands of people who have my same goal and what they had very recently said about it.

Google Docs

What a great tool to use for collaborating with other people AND collaborating with yourself, i.e. working on "work" at home. I published the "winter" picture below from Google Docs to my blog, but the document I designed got pretty goofed up when I tried to put it into the little blog space. So I deleted that "publication." I asked my two National Honor Society volunteers today if they were familiar with Google Docs and one said it might be what the "yearbook staff" uses so that they can work together on some files, but she wasn't sure of the name. I think it is interesting to see who is aware of this tool and currently using it.
Thanks,
Maria

Semester 2

Hola!

Well I had to do a little "work" to remember how to log into by blog here! Not that THAT reflects in any way on how much I have been using my blog over our break. :)

So anyway, for the IM assignment: IM'ing is fun! I can see why people sit in our library every day for hours on end doing so. I remember my daughter saying [a few years back] that it was so much better than using the telephone to call her friends and talk. Of course since then, she got her cell phone...then calling was cool again...and now text messaging via the phone is just so much better than talking... :)

I think that using IM between staff both in and outside of the building could be very useful. My office is away from our REF DESK, and it might be helpful to be able to IM staff at that desk, or the supervisors in their offices. I'm not sure how the other people would feel about it. But we do have a few people from our library in this class, so I'll see if we can get it started and see how it works!
